SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - May 15, 2017 - San Luis Radiation Oncology is pleased to announce that Board Certified Radiation Oncologist Robert Johnson, M.D. has joined the practice.
Dr. Johnson is uniquely qualified to treat cancer patients, as he is a cancer survivor himself. During medical school, Dr. Johnson was diagnosed with cancer, and his treatment plan included radiation therapy.
“My personal experience taught me the importance of compassion when taking care of cancer
patients and led me to pursue a career in radiation oncology,” says Dr. Johnson. “I found the specialty to be an ideal combination of patient contact and technical challenge.”
Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Louisville, serving as chief resident in his final year.
At the University of Louisville, Dr. Johnson gained comprehensive training in general radiation oncology. It was there he developed particular interest in cancers of the head and neck, lung, as well as gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Johnson has presented on prophylactic mastectomy for breast cancer, colon cancer, radiotherapy in prostate cancer and other topics.

Dr. Johnson is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He is also proficient in Spanish.
